If you are being abused or neglected, there is help available to you.

As a province-wide network of professionals working to increase community awareness, AEAAC is represented by many communities across Alberta.

If you are concerned about yourself, a loved one, or someone in your community experiencing abuse or neglect, please contact your closest agency for help. If you would like more general information about the Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council, please contact the representative in your community. For emergencies and cases of immediate danger, please call 911.

If there are no resources currently identified in your area, and you are in need of support against elder abuse or neglect, please contact the 24 hour provincial Family Violence Line at 310-1818.

If you are aware of resources in your area that are not listed here, please contact us at info@albertaelderabuse.ca to let us know.

The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council operates under the Government of Alberta’s coordinated community response (CCR) mandate to:

Facilitate coordinated, community-based responses to address elder abuse and neglect

Promote safe communities and prevent the abuse and neglect of older adults

Ensure CCR members have access to current, relevant training to support their work with older adults

Provide community education and training to raise awareness about elder abuse

Center the voices of older adults with lived experience in all aspects of CCR planning and response

Support individuals who have caused harm by offering referrals to appropriate services
