As we gather from across the province, AEAAC would like to acknowledge that we are all on traditional territories in Alberta of the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council operates under the Government of Alberta's coordinated community response (CCR) mandate to:
- Facilitate coordinated, community-based responses to address elder abuse and neglect
- Promote safe communities and prevent the abuse and neglect of older adults
- Ensure CCR members have access to current, relevant training to support their work with older adults
- Provide community education and training to raise awareness about elder abuse
- Center the voices of older adults with lived experience in all aspects of CCR planning and response
- Support individuals who have caused harm by offering referrals to appropriate services
