As we gather from across the province, AEAAC would like to acknowledge that we are all on traditional territories in Alberta of the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. We recognize and affirm the Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada. We acknowledge all First Nations, Metis and Inuit across Turtle Island as the keepers of these lands and that many come to live, work and volunteer in Alberta, enriching our communities.

The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council operates under the Government of Alberta’s coordinated community response (CCR) mandate to:
- Facilitate coordinated, community-based responses to address elder abuse and neglect
- Promote safe communities and prevent the abuse and neglect of older adults
- Ensure CCR members have access to current, relevant training to support their work with older adults
- Provide community education and training to raise awareness about elder abuse
- Center the voices of older adults with lived experience in all aspects of CCR planning and response
- Support individuals who have caused harm by offering referrals to appropriate services
