The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council operates under the Government of Alberta’s coordinated community response (CCR) mandate to:
- Facilitate coordinated, community-based responses to address elder abuse and neglect
- Promote safe communities and prevent the abuse and neglect of older adults
- Ensure CCR members have access to current, relevant training to support their work with older adults
- Provide community education and training to raise awareness about elder abuse
- Center the voices of older adults with lived experience in all aspects of CCR planning and response
- Support individuals who have caused harm by offering referrals to appropriate services
